Animals on the Farm

Ducks

It all started with our four from Rural King! We currently have a mixed flock of Cayugas, Welsh Harlequins, Black Swedish, and Anconas.

We believe diversity in your flock produces stronger stock. Our flock free ranges during the day in our pastures where they are able to supplement their diets with delicious insects, grass, and extra produce from the garden.

We enjoy our ducks as pets, for eggs, and meat!

Duck Services we provide: duck-keeping consultations, hatching eggs, eating eggs, and ducklings.

Rabbits

On our farm we have German Angora rabbits. We use Angora rabbits for fiber on the farm, to combine with our alpaca fiber, and process the fiber into yarn and other fiber products we sell. We sell rabbits as well, for those that want to include fiber on their farms as well.

Rabbit services we provide: Quality Pet and Breeding Rabbits, Fiber (mixed with our alpaca fiber)

Bees

We were gifted a hive of Italian bees from Jessica's stepfather as a homestead warming gift. Beekeeping is something Jess has always wanted to do. One of the most calming experiences Jess has ever had is being in the middle of a swarm. Jessica grew up with bees and was excited to share these memories with Jess. Their first summer saw three swarms and quickly put into practice Jessica's experience and the classes they took to prepare for the bees. Jess and Jessica are looking forward to seeing their hives emerge in the spring and to continue working alongside the bees.

Bee Services we provide: Consultations

Geese

Sebastopol geese are a staple on the farm. We have a few colored projects going on with our geese. Color wise for our Sebastopol, we have buff, grey, and pure white. Geese are Jess's realm on the farm. She's always wanted ducks and geese, for as long as she can remember. They will be part of the breeding program on the farm as well as providing us eggs and possibly meat.

San Clemente Island Goats

We have a herd of 10 San Clemente Island Goats (SCIGs) on the farm. They are a rare, critically endangered North American breed from San Clemente Island, California. Once wanted to be erraticated from the Island by the US Navy from the 1930s up until the last goat was killed on the Island in 1991.  3,000 Goats were trapped, removed from the Island, and rehomed on the Main Land with restrictions to breed them.

As of today, there are less than 2,000 SCIGs left in North America. On our farm, we are breeding with the purpose of milk production, brush management, and meat. The use of them in show is gaining popularity and spotlights this rare and unique breed.

Goat Services we provide: Kids, Goat Milk Products

Alpacas

We have a growing herd of 6 Alpaca on our farm. One of our favorite animals on the far, we use alpacas for grazing our pastures and orchard, for fiber to make yarn that is sold, and for their rich, fertilizer that goes into our flower farm.

They are so fun, silly, and curious creatures and honestly after one month of having them, we knew we were alpaca people.

Alpaca Services we provide: Yarn, Raw Fiber, and Alpacas for purchase.
