Farm Life in September: Balancing Animals + Blooms

ree

The bees are humming, the goats are grazing, and the flowers are still blooming strong.

September is our “in-between” month — the last bursts of summer colliding with the first signs of fall. It’s also one of our busiest months! Back to school, flowers in full bloom, prepping for winter, all while trying to savor the last moments of summer and first glimmers of fall.

This weekend was FULL. Our first flower event, spending time with our people, farm chores, and everything else the weekend contains.

Jessica suited up to see the bees. They haven’t been doing their job, and these two hives are new to us so we are getting used to how these girls work. One hive is friendly, the other…not so much. We likely won’t be pulling any honey until next year. Which means we will savor the honey we still have until next harvest late spring.

We do our best to balance chores and life witch checklists and prepped dinners or going out for dinners. On Mondays we do a sit down where we discuss what needs to get done this week and what to prioritize. We also take about 30-45 min when we get home to relax before heading out for afternoon chores. That will likely get shorter as the days get shorter so we do chores in daylight and then inside chores and relaxing once the sun sets.

Chaos during the week can be hard, but a bouquet of flowers on your table makes you look and feel a little more put together.

Order your bouquet today to feel a little more together this week!
