How We Build a Bouquet: From Garden to Vase

Featuring our exclusive cups for the Girls Night Out event! 9/12/25

Every bouquet tells a story. Ours begins with rubber boots in the field, often accompanied by alpacas watching curiously from the fence. šŸ¦™

Buddy, our poodle, and one of the kitties are often laying about the walk paths as I cut and harvest flowers. 🐾

āœ‚ļøThis week, our zinnias, cosmos, floss flowers, and celosia are going strong. After I cut all of the flowers and foliage, I bring the bucket into the house and set it on our kitchen table. I give them about an hour to drink up all the water before I begin to build our bouquets.

When it’s time to design our bouquets, I like to build the frame of the bouquet shape first. I put some of the ā€œfillerā€ or ā€œspikeā€ shape greenery in first. Our go-tos are cress, cosmos, feverfew, and celosia. 🌿

🌼Then I like to add in some ā€œfiller flowersā€ such as our smaller zinnias, rudbeckias, and floss flowers.

Next, I add in our focal flowers, the divas of the bouquets if you will. Our divas are specialty zinnias, sunflowers, or dahlias depending upon what in the field is blooming.🌻

🌾Last, is my favorite step! I add in the floaty details as I like to call them. We have Queen Anne’s lace, tiny rudbeckias, or bunny tails. Details that catch the eye and draw them into the different textures and colors of the bouquet.

Our secret ingredient is special, for your nose! The next bouquet you pick up, give it a good waft and see what you can pick up. I love this ingredient because it’s so unexpected, but so lovely when it fills the room on a warm summer day. ✨

šŸ’I spin the bouquet around as I’m adding in the layers, to make sure it looks great at every angle.

šŸ‘‰šŸ»To make the bouquet last, follow our bouquet care tips below;

  • Keep out of direct sunlight

  • Keep away from ripe/ripening fruit

  • Trim stems every few days

  • Change fresh water every other day

  • Snip any fading blooms

This week we will be at the Girl’s Night Out event in downtown Hillsboro, OH. Come see us for our special $15 bouquets in Naturally By Nature. The event goes 5-8 PM and it’s going to be such a fun night šŸŽ‰

Stop by the event to get our exclusive bouquets for this week!

See ya Friday,
